The water in your home most likely contains chlorine and chloramines that could lead to skin and eye irritation and damage healthy cells.
It’s a great feeling in the morning to jump in the shower, lather up and let the hot water roll off your face and body. Some people prefer to take their shower before going to bed. The fact is, although the regulating agencies add these chemicals to the water supply to be free of harmful bacteria, chlorine and chloramines still exist in the water that’s entering your home. Isn’t this enough to make you to now re-think how dangerous and poor tasting the water is in your home?
In addition to chlorine and chloramines in your water, an Opthalmogist, Alexander Ionides of Clinic Care pointed out saying “All water such as baths, showers, bathroom sinks, pools and sea water, contain a free living protozoan Acanthamoeba, which can cause painful eye infection that could lead to blindness.”
Wow, what an eye opener! This should be enough to ask yourself “how can I remove all these nasty chemicals”.

Wait!!! Before you rush out and buy one of those water filters for your home, let’s first understand more about these chemicals.
Perhaps the most noticeable thing about chlorine is its odor. This means you are inhaling it while showering and it gets into your lungs and trachea. The EPA lists chlorine as a pesticide so it’s easy to understand that it can damage these cells.
Furthermore, it may be absorbed through the skin and that could do even more damage to the cells of your body. Chlorine also reduces the natural oils in your hair leaving it brittle and giving it a less attractive healthy shine. That’s not all. The natural protective oils on your skin are removed leaving the possibility of bacterial infections that cause discoloration and itching.
Because chlorine can react with decayed vegetation and form trichloromethane (TCM), which is a known cancer causing agent, many municipalities combine a percentage of their chlorine with ammonia to produce chloramines which minimizes but does not eliminate TCM production.
Chloramines, although less effective than chlorine, make up for this deficiency by lasting many times longer before dissipating into the air and during that time strengthening the chlorine odor. While studies are incomplete on health issues of this being a respiratory irritant, there still are strong suspicions about its properties. And to top this off, there are numerous on line reports that chloramines cause plumbing damage. Imagine what it might be doing to your body!
Remember, once the water reaches your home, chlorine and chloramines have done their job so why expose yourself and your family to needless danger? Eliminate them before they can cause harm.
The only way to protect yourself and your family from these health issues is to purchase a complete water filtration system for the whole house.
